Hmm...never knew they increased in value if you IDed them just thought it showed you the price the merchant would pay. Thanks for telling me this information, might make my Famine/105 foundry runs more profitable than they already are

Its an old trick, some times its not worth it and at others it is. Its all conditional whether I do id them or not.

I always ID them if they are worth over 50g before ID-ing. Gold is gold. But I usually do it while running to my next stop.

Yes I do identify white items but only if they're near max stats.

Also armor if near salvage 39/40.

I find I don't salvage armor much nowadays so I just sell it off....

*yawn*

I had a bag of white items costing 40-50 gold each.

After IDing...they averaged to 70-80 gold.

i think its well worth it.

Used to do it before I found good farming builds to get rich quickly. Too lazy to ID the Whites for just a few gp more.XD

If you are into making more gold then ID All your White Items from High End Areas. When I Farm a High End Area I make sure my inventory is empty except for the weapons I am using. PICK UP ALL DROPS and when in town ID EVERYTHING! A White Item can go from 50g to 100g and this is well worth the cost to ID the Item. ID KITS FTW.

its old news, i've been doing it for 2 years basically now. its only worth it picking up whites to fill your inventory before you warp away but blues are the best little guys to ID, you can get precious and all that.

don't forget the whites are sometimes worth salvaging instead of IDing for just gold.

I IDed whites for a while, but I hardly even identify most of my blues now, lol. I think Levi said it best when he said that time is money.

That's the exact same thing I've been doing.

Near max items from high levels often increase around 20-40 gold. In my experience, NF items dont increase nearly as much as Proph or Factions items.

As a general rule -
*ID armors level 38 or above
*Weapons no lower than 1 off max (i.e. 11-21 for swords)
*Shields 15 and above
*Anything with a price higher than 54 gold standard merchant price, but NO lower than 45

Hope this helps you poor kids. :P

I've found that if I ID the items that I want to salvage, ie holy rod's etc, that I have a better chance of getting the steel that I want, rather than the iron that I don't want.

Try it

Hah!

I sometimes do that: click Xunlai agent, open inventory, start rapid-firing the ID kit while I walk, click merchant, rapid-fire some more until the sales window pops open. Takes no more time than a regular walk and adds a couple of hundred gold.

I never ID white items, I always dumped the white items to the merchants.

I always ID runes that are only worth 25g to the trader. A gold rune you can buy for 100 at the trader normally sells for 130-218 gold if you ID it.

Example: I got a superior Spear Mastery rune. I could buy one for 100g, sell to the trader for 25. I ID it, sell it for 218g, and then buy the rune. I gained 118 gold and still got to keep my rune.

With each region in the game, the increase in merchant value when IDing whites increases a bit. After a certain point in the game (for Prophecies, I'd say at Maguuma/Crystal desert), IDing whites increases their merchant value a fair bit to the point where I would say it's worth it.

Basically ID whites later on in the game, but don't bother IDing anything from lower region areas.

Whites aren't worth IDing...the sheer amount of them means you waste time playing.
Sometimes, I don't even bother picking the whites.
